Introduction:

Have you ever heard of geo-fencing? It's a location-based technology that creates virtual boundaries around a physical area. When someone carrying a mobile phone enters or exits the geofenced area, a notification or alert is sent to them or others who are pre-defined. Geo-fencing is used for different purposes, such as marketing, security, and tracking, and now, it's becoming popular in the workplace for employee monitoring. This is where the geo-fenced attendance system using employee mobile phones comes into play.

The Digital Incubation Centre (DIC) of the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MoTC) has announced the 25 winners of the fourth edition of IdeaCamp, held virtually for the first time in line with the precautionary measures for Covid-19.

The announcement was made at a virtual ceremony attended by Reem Mohamed al-Mansouri, assistant undersecretary of Digital Society Development Sector at MoTC. The ceremony also marked the graduation of 17 startups that completed their incubation in 2020.
